- Country’s First Public Health Photo Contest 2018 Country’s first public health photo contest held.
- A public health photo contest and exhibition jointly organized by Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) & Gono Bishwabidyalay were held at the PHA auditorium of Gonoshasthaya Kendra on the 15th of July. Professor Dr. Syed Modasser Ali, chairman, Bangladesh Medical Research Council, and former health, family and social welfare advisor to the prime minister, was the chief guest. Dr. Shahidul Alam, founder, DRIK, Bangladesh, was the keynote speaker. Professor Dr. Laila Parveen Banu, Vice-Chancellor (acting), Gono Bishwabidyalay, Dr. Manzur Kadir Ahmed, Coordinator, Gonoshasthaya Kendra, Professor Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Farida Adib Khanam, Principal, Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College, and Hasan Saifuddin Chandan, chief judge of the contest and first FIAP gold medalist of Bangladesh also spoke during the occasion. Founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK), Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury, attended the program. In the contest, 10 photos were declared winners alongside 10 runners-up amongst the 133 qualified submissions of 68 participants. Certificates, autographed books of renowned public health leaders, the replica of the national martyr’s memorial, and program posters were handed out.
- Dr. Md Zohirul Alam, an alumnus of Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College and current Master of Public Health candidate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health outlined the motivation behind the photo contest. Professor Marie Diener-West, Professor Keith P. West, Professor Henry B. Perry from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health congratulated the winners and runners-up through pre-recorded video messages.
- The exhibition ran until 7:00 pm.
